Intro to Archery

If you are just starting out or have an interest in archery, this class is for you. Introduction to Archery is loaded full of education and hands on instruction from qualified and experienced teachers. Archery is a sport that the whole family can enjoy and is one of the safest activities in the schools today. NJAT can provide archery equipment to the students but it is highly recommended that the student purchase their own equipment from a reputable archery shop and have it matched to their physical capabilities. Personally matched equipment can make a tremendous difference in how you shoot. Archery is a sport that takes a lot of practice and therefore we encourage the student that is interested in this exciting shooting sport, to have their own equipment. Here is an outline of what the course entails.

  • Safety - How to shoot safely and accurately while on the range and outdoors
  • Equipment - discussion on parts of the bow and arrow and how it effects shooting
  • Eye Dominance - learn how to know your dominant eye and why it's important
  • String Bow training aid - using a string bow to practice form and function for when you get out on the range
  • 11 steps to success - Proper setup, posture and follow through leads to consistent shooting ability
  • Shooting - We will be shooting most of the day and coaching the student on how to improve
  • Practice -Discuss how to practice, identify ranges in the local areas
